We are Buro Knapzak, an Amsterdam based creative production company. We create interactive and audiovisual projects. In no way constrained by entrenched traditions, we fuse animation, live action...
and the digital domain together, pushing the boundaries of technology. Buro Knapzak has both the knowledge and experience to originate ideas and handle all aspects of production as demonstrated by the breadth of recent projects ranging from campaigns, and commercials to short films.
Buro Knapzak is a relatively small agency. This allows us to build personal relationships with our clients and as a result we are able to be extremely flexible with innovative and high quality customised projects as a result. This year was perhaps the best in Buro Knapzaks history. We have enjoyed several fantastic collaborations with our ever-expanding network of top agencies on both national and international award-winning projects, as well as being highly successful with our own independent projects.

Bol.comWK polonaise
By order of Etcetera we developed an online environment for Bol.com: a virtual polonaise from The Netherlands to South Africa. We are aiming to become the longest online procession ever. Everybody can join by uploading a picture and selecting a character.We designed and developed the campaign site. The trip features two minigames that users have to play to arrive in South Africa. They have to tarzan their way over a river filled with crocs in Cameroon and play ball to get from Tarifa to Tanger.
MicrosoftAre you a Superwoman?
Windows Phone and Hotmail teamed up and asked all busy women in The Netherlands the question 'are you in control?' To let them find out, Red Urban came up with a special campaign game in which the player is centered in a hectic life. Red Urban asked us to produce this game.All kinds of messages come from different sides. The player is challenged to answer each message correct on a Windows phone. If they manage to do so, they can win the main price: quality time!
BrabantiaCampaign Brabantia Binball
Brabantia stands as a company that typifies durable solutions and lasting values, which is why all their products carry a long-term guarantee. Advertising agency Etcetera came up with a playful concept for a video contest called Brabantia Binball. With four viral videos they trigger the target group to join the contest and to upload their own videos.In order to keep participation easily accessible we created a webcam application with which users are able to create their own ending. We took care of both the design and the production of the campaign that consist of four viral videos, a campaign site, a banner campaign and a mailing. The videos were created together with director Maurice Trouwborst and 3D-artist Tim van der Wiel.
bol.comWhistle you way trough bol.com
Shopping at Bol.com is really easy. Etcetera came up with a game concept to illustrate this and they asked us for the creation. By whistling in your microphone you fly trough the world of bol.com. During your flight you have to catch at least five of eight objects to get a chance of winning a price.Buro Knapzak created a globe with our 3D artist Tim van der Wiel. Furthermore we designed the game interface and developed the game.
RTL - Radio 538Promo Evers in Vancouver
Edwin Evers, one of Holland’s most popular radio DJ’s, is going to broadcast live from the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. We were asked to develop a promo, which is going to be aired on the Dutch commercial television channels RTL5 and RTL7.With a concept written by RTL and a pair of old fashioned ice skates on us we drove to the picturesque city of Dalfsen to stand up to the bleak weather of the Dutch lowlands. Even though Edwin Evers and Olympic hero Falko Zandstra left early with frostbitten body parts, we are happy to present you this short motion picture of Dutch folklore.
Binnenlands BestuurLive RSS-banners
Binnenlands Bestuur, the biggest platform of Kluwer, is actively trying to bring in new members. As a part of this we were asked to develop a banner campaign.One of the most important unique selling points of Binnenlands Bestuur is that they provide their target group with line specific newsfeed. We came up with a concept that connects this content to a banner, namely RSS-banners. The three latest news scoops are showed in a carrousel followed by the pay-off.
The Spoken ProjectTeaser
The Spoken Project remixes spoken word with music. They came up with a new album, Spoken by dr. Birgit Lühr, and asked us to create a teaser. Our friends Bob Joosten, Koen Knevel and Martijn Hogenkamp joined us and we came up with a concept that fuses live action, typeface and animation.The Spoken Project aims on reinventing learning and change the way knowledge is being absorbed and processed. To that end they reinterpret themes and topics that move people with a combination of sounds, music and images. Each topic is waiting to be interpreted in a new way. On first sight this may sound like pure chaos. In reality it is exactly the way our brain works, combining content in a non-linear manner. There are no boundaries between different themes, sounds and pictures...and it is precisely this concept, which serves as the basis for The Spoken Project.
Universiteit TwenteAnimation
Studio Dumbar developed a new visual identity for Universiteit Twente. They asked us to translate their graphical concept into motion design. We teamed up with motion director Martijn Hogenkamp and so we did...Together with the animation, we created a Flash-presentation and produced a video in which Studio Dumbars strategy director Tom Dorresteijn tells about the concept of the new identity.

For quite some time now we are working for and together with INDG on several projects. This time INDG asked us to create video content for the Amsterdam Smart City project.The teaser tells us about the Klimaatstraat project and shows the near future of the city, with a focus on sustainability and environment in our capital. INDG, an Amsterdam based 3D-agency, is responsible for the 3D-animation and implementation.

We teamed up with motion director Martijn Hogenkamp and made the infomercial.The infomercial gives customers of Binnenlands Bestuur a clear and pleasant view on the most important functions of this platform.

For State Magazine and Submarine's channel minimovies.org we produced a documentary about the hiphop phenomenon grillz. The documentary is broadcasted on the digital channel minimovies.org.Fronts, golds, plates, shines, caps, slugs, pullouts. Call it what you want, just put your money where your mouth is and let it shine. This documentary brings the bling bling to the screen and documents the history and popularity of mouth jewelry in hip-hop and beyond. From New York in the early Eighties to the Dirty South and the streets of Amsterdam.

The campaign Volkswagen Innovations allows consumers to experience what the techniques of Volkswagen actually do for you.Not by telling or explaining them, but by letting you choose the relevant techniques in situations you really need them the most... Achtung! created the website for the campaign and asked us to come up with the video content. For both the website and banner ads, video is a substantial part of the project.

To recruit high potentials Kluwer started the programme Kluwer Topfiscalist. We created an on- and offline campaign with a focus on photography.A mix of media, including print, banner ads and a website was developed to trigger new talent to participate.

Binnenlands Bestuur is the biggest brand of Kluwer, a Wolters Kluwer business. They got a new website and asked us to create a new design for the Masterclasses part.Masterclasses are excusive network meetings for governors, senior officials and managers of mostly governmental organizations. It is an integral part of Binnenlands Bestuur. We created a concept in which the master and his network are are the central element. It contains print, banner ads, video, an exclusive mailing page for the masters and a website.

Kluwer has improved their web environment Mijn Abonnementen. Mijn Abonnementen is a tool on kluwer.nl where professionals can access their subscriptions online. They asked us to develop a campaign that highlights the biggest changes.Several features of this online catalogue are renewed. Also handy new features are added. The campaign consists of an online infomercial, banner ads and a email template. We teamed up with designer and director Martijn Hogenkamp to develop the campaign.
O'NeillPhotography E-shop
Achtung! developed the E-shop for O'Neill. They asked us to take care of the photography of the winter collection 2008.
SkodaShort film
Skoda is the graduation film of Rob Lucker. Together with Hazazah, Holland Equipment, Condor and Het Licht we are sponsoring the project. In cooperation with Hazazah we did the production management and we made the website.Skoda is a dark film about two people struggling with the problems they face in everyday life. Fester, the protagonist, is a tormented and frustrated person. He just needs a bit of luck, joy and happiness. His defensive attitude however blocks the success of the chances he is trying to pull of. He gets in touch with Stephen, his neighbour. Together they attempt to cope with their problems, but that appears far more complicated than expected and ends up in situations that hurts to the bone.

Achtung! made the website for Chocomel. A new product to their range is Chocomel Hot which is easy to make with any Senseo-machine. The only thing you need to know is what container belongs to which device.That’s why they asked us to come up with video content for an instruction video. The video is shown on the site of Chocomel at the productpage of Chocomel Hot.

We developed video content for the website Heldere Kijk Op Schiphol for Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The assignment was commissioned by our good friends at Achtung!Achtung! designed the website, which gives interested parties a clear view on the results of the possible growth and non-growth of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, based upon the theme: Schiphol and you, the future and now. From four different angles the effects of extension and stagnation of growth are portrayed by interactive videos and graphics.

We were asked to develop VBTV. The online digital channel for the insurance market. Het Verzekeringsblad is one of the magazines of Kluwer, a Wolters Kluwer business.VBTV is a community where the target group can watch a wide range of video content on insurance related issues. We produced the content, created the identity as well as a leader and developed the digital channel.
Thom BroekmanTV Commercial
Thom Broekman has men fashion stores all over The Netherlands, but Utrecht is their hometown. Therefore they sponsored the region soap of the local television station in Utrecht. Part of the agreement was that they were given air time before and after broadcasting the soap.We made the TV commercial. We created a small story based upon the soap's storyline. It features Jean Paul de Jong, a club icon of FC Utrecht.

Vakantie is a short fiction film written by Marcel van der Velden and Bastiaan Mast. We produced the movie, which has a well known Dutch cast: Frits Lambrechts, Myrianna of Reeden and Herman Boerman.Vakantie tells about a grandfather who baby-sits his two game addicted grandchildren. During these two days, he tries to disengage the kids from the virtual world and bring them closer to the experience of childhood he had himself. This results in a story of life in a sometimes humorous, sometimes melancholic way.

Ladybird is a short fiction film written and directed by Maurice Trouwborst. We produced the movie.The film makes fun of Dutch youngsters who are called Lonsdale jongeren (kids wearing clothing of this Brittish sports brand supposed to do so because of racist motives).
